AMPECO LIVE · EPISODE 3
Building Fleet-First EV Charging: Live with Jakub Kott, E.ON Czech Republic
In Czech Republic, more than three in four EVs are company cars. Jakub Kott built E.ON CZ around that fact: a full-service partner for fleets and smaller operators, not a traditional charge point operator.
A conversation about building a charging business for the market that actually exists (fleets, not consumers), and what that looks like from inside one of Central Europe’s largest energy companies.

What We’ll Talk About
A live conversation on why an energy utility chose not to build a charging network, what fleet-first infrastructure actually demands, and what the Czech market reveals about where the rest of Europe is heading.
From Energy Supplier to Charging Provider
E.ON Czech Republic already served 1.5 million energy customers when it built its charging division. What that starting position unlocks, and how the business was built around the fleet market from day one.
The Fleet-Dominated Market
More than three in four Czech EVs are registered to companies. Who the real customer is, what fleet managers actually need from charging data, and why most public charging infrastructure gets this wrong.
Why E.ON Chose Not to Build Like a CPO
No highway DC stations. No session-revenue race. E.ON CZ built a turnkey service package with 0% AC revenue share. The model that makes no sense until you understand who the actual customer is.
The Smart Charging Cable
Wallboxes need installation and stay fixed to one location. E.ON CZ built a portable OCPP cable pre-configured per driver account, usable at home, at the office, or at any public socket. Why this outperforms a wallbox for most fleet drivers.
Serving Small CPOs: Municipalities, Hotels, Employers
Municipalities, hotels, and employers want to offer EV charging but not run a charging business. E.ON CZ built a full-service model for them: one contract, everything included. What that customer relationship actually looks like.
The Czech Market Paradox and What Comes Next
Czech Republic has strong charging infrastructure and very few EVs. Fleet demand built the network before consumers arrived. What Jakub sees coming next, and what it means for operators building in similar markets today.
Meet the Guest
Jakub Kott is Head of Emobility Solutions at E.ON Czech Republic, where he built the company’s EV charging business from the ground up into one of the largest fleet charging operations in Czech Republic.
He studied power engineering at CTU Prague, completed a master’s in electromobility at NTNU Norway, and spent two years at Skoda Auto developing EV charging systems before joining E.ON in 2018. His focus has been fleet-first charging: a single managed service for corporate operators and for the organizations that want to offer charging without running it themselves.
About E.ON Czech Republic
E.ON Energie supplies energy to 1.5 million people across Czech Republic, providing electric vehicle charging for private drivers, corporate fleets, and the organizations that want to offer charging without operating it themselves. Through its roaming network, E.ON CZ customers can charge at more than 150,000 points across nine European countries.

Hosting the Conversation
Baycho leads marketing at AMPECO, the platform powering 200+ charge point operators across 70+ markets. He hosts AMPECO Live as a working forum for the operator community, built around the decisions and tradeoffs that practitioners in this industry rarely get to discuss in public.
Your questions, answered
How is this different from a webinar?
AMPECO Live is a conversation, not a presentation. There are no slides, no scripted demos, and no product pitches. The host and guest talk through real business experience for 60 minutes, then take audience questions.
Do I need to be an AMPECO customer?
No. AMPECO Live is open to anyone working in or around EV charging.
This episode focuses on the Czech market. Is it relevant if I operate elsewhere?
Yes. The patterns Jakub covers (fleet-first market design, the case for a turnkey service model, and what it takes to build a sustainable charging business before consumer EV adoption arrives) apply to any market where corporate fleets are the dominant segment. That describes most of Central and Eastern Europe, and an increasing number of markets globally.
