Sustainability at AMPECO

AMPECO is the platform behind some of the world’s most reliable EV charging networks, with the features that cut the carbon, cost, and grid load of every session. We hold our own business to the same standards we help operators meet.

What sustainability means at AMPECO

Three pillars guide how we operate, with resilience connecting and strengthening them all.

Sustainable e-mobility

Our greatest opportunity for impact. By improving reliability, grid responsiveness, and energy intelligence, we enable our customers to build more efficient, resilient, and sustainable EV charging operations.

People & community

Our impact extends beyond the infrastructure we help build. We invest in the wellbeing, growth, and inclusion of our people, while supporting the communities where our team lives and works.

Trust & integrity

Operating critical energy infrastructure demands accountability. We uphold high standards for security, privacy, governance, and ethical conduct so our customers and partners can rely on us with confidence.

The foundation beneath all three

01

Technical resilience in the platform we run

02

System resilience in the grid we connect to

03

Organizational resilience in how we govern ourselves as we scale.

Decoupling growth from footprint

A scaling tech company’s sustainability comes down to one question: does its footprint grow with the business? In 2025, ours moved the other way.

We meet the standards we set

The same expectations for efficiency, governance, and access that we help network operators achieve are embedded in our own platform and processes.

AMPECO platform dashboard

Software carbon intensity

Every charging session our platform handles carries 2.56 g CO₂e, measured under the SCI framework (ISO/IEC 21031). We keep it low by choosing efficient cloud regions, designing the platform to run lean, and continuously optimizing workloads.

AI-native

AI workloads are a growing source of electricity demand, so we actively govern the efficiency of our own AI use. We equip engineering teams with AI agents and clear guardrails to minimize unnecessary inference and wasted computation. It’s a formal target under our ISO 14001 environmental management system, and cloud intensity per GWh charged fell 40% in 2025.

Accessibility and equity

The platform is built for accessibility, both digitally (WCAG 2.2) and through support for accessible charge points (PAS 1899). Transparent pricing and ad-hoc charging help keep EV charging open and accessible, without requiring subscriptions.

Independently verified

ESG screening is now part of procurement for a growing share of our customers. These are the certifications and verified targets that qualify us.

How AMPECO’s platform delivers on sustainability

Four mechanisms in the platform turn every charging session into an opportunity to optimize energy use, lower costs, and reduce grid strain.

Dynamic Load Management

Add chargers without expensive grid upgrades. The platform distributes available power across active sessions in real time and respects every level of a site’s electrical hierarchy, so operators can add chargers within the limits of an existing grid connection without interrupting drivers.

Smart charging

Shift load into the cleanest, cheapest times of the day. The platform optimizes when each session draws power based on electricity prices, grid carbon intensity, and renewable availability, so operators can lower the cost of every kilowatt-hour delivered and reduce the carbon footprint of every charging session.

Solar prioritization

Charge from on-site renewables before the grid. The platform prioritizes excess solar from a residential or commercial PV installation, charging the vehicle with locally generated clean power rather than drawing from the grid. Solar’s lifecycle emissions are a fraction of those from gas or coal, making this one of the highest-impact features in the platform’s climate toolkit.

Flexibility assets

Turn charging into a grid service and a revenue stream. Charging circuits respond to signals from grid operators, energy markets, and aggregators in real time, modulating demand to support grid stability and unlock new revenue streams for operators. The platform forecasts consumption patterns at 15-minute intervals and integrates directly with flexibility markets through open protocols.

434,180 tonnes of CO₂e avoided in 2025

Equivalent to taking 94,000 cars off the road for a year — the combined impact of operators running cleaner, smarter networks on the platform.

1 tonne emitted, our operations 781 tonnes avoided

The data behind your sustainability reporting

01

Reporting-ready energy data

Track and export network-wide energy consumption in kWh, complete with renewable-energy indicators and detailed energy-mix breakdowns behind every tariff, including solar, wind, hydro, nuclear, gas, and more. Give your sustainability, compliance, and enterprise teams the data they need, without manual reconciliation.

02

Sustainability data that travels across networks

Access per-kWh carbon intensity (g CO2/kWh) through the API, alongside OCPI energy-mix and green-energy data for roaming. Environmental attributes stay attached to every charging session, supporting consistent reporting and transparency, even beyond your own network.

03

A vendor built for enterprise scrutiny

Sustainability due diligence increasingly extends to your value chain. AMPECO’s verified certifications and net-zero target help satisfy enterprise procurement and reporting requirements, reducing risk and removing one more barrier in vendor assessments.
