Migrating a charging network to a new software platform is one of the highest-stakes decisions a CPO can make. It touches every layer of the business — from driver-facing services and payment flows to hardware integrations and partner relationships. Get it wrong, and you risk downtime, data loss, and eroded trust. Get it right, and you unlock the scalability and flexibility to grow without limits. In this post, we share real migration stories from three AMPECO customers — E.ON Drive Infrastructure, Swisscharge, Wattif, and Eldrive — who made the switch and came out stronger on the other side.

Why large-scale and ambitious Charge Point Operators are migrating to AMPECO

As charging networks scale, the gap between what legacy platforms can deliver and what operators actually need widens fast. Whether it is regulatory pressure, platform outages eroding customer trust, rigid systems that can’t keep up with business expansion, or the need to consolidate after acquisitions—large-scale CPOs are reaching the same conclusion: a limited software platform will hamper your ability to meet the growing and complex needs of EV charging.

So AMPECO built migration into a core competency — dedicated teams, proven playbooks, and a track record no competitor can match. As of March 2026, we have successfully migrated over 120,000 charge points from legacy or rigid CPMS platforms and numerous in-house solutions. Behind that number: dozens of enterprise migration projects, each with dedicated engineering teams, custom data mapping, and hands-on partnership with CPO teams who trusted AMPECO to handle their most consequential platform transition.

CPMS Platform Migration: Real Examples from AMPECO Track Record

The proof of our approach lies in outcomes. From pan-European network consolidations to multi-acquisition integrations to multi-country CPO transitions, AMPECO has demonstrated that large-scale migrations don’t have to mean large-scale disruption.

E.ON Drive Infrastructure: Pan-European migration across 11 countries

EON Drive Infrastructure migration to AMPECO

Migrating a charging network across 11 countries means dealing with different regulatory frameworks, localized payment requirements, and service continuity across every border — all at once. E.ON Drive Infrastructure faced this reality when consolidating their pan-European network onto a single platform.

E.ON Drive Infrastructure (EDRI), one of Europe’s leading public Charge Point Operators, manages an extensive network of over 6,000 public EV charging points across 11 European countries. The migration to AMPECO’s platform represented one of our most ambitious projects to date—not just because of the scale, but because of the operational complexity inherent in multi-country operations.

AMPECO’s platform not only meets our current needs for scalability but also offers the flexibility crucial for our future growth. It gives us full control over our charging network and the ability to create tailored solutions that deliver valuable services to our customers.” – Arjan van der Eijk, COO, E.ON Drive Infrastructure

EDRI chose AMPECO for the depth of its feature set and the strategic alignment with their multi-market operating model. The varying regulatory requirements across markets, diverse hardware configurations accumulated through network expansion, and the need for centralized control without sacrificing local flexibility made this a true test of our migration capabilities.

AMPECO’s extensive support and expertise helped EDRI set up and test everything before the migration, ensuring a smooth transition with minimal service disruptions. The result? A successful transition that positioned E.ON Drive for continued European expansion, with plans to add 1,000 new high-power charging points in the coming years.

Migrating our pan-European network was a significant challenge that required thorough planning and preparation. AMPECO’s extensive support and expertise helped us to set up and test everything before the migration, ensuring a smooth transition with minimal service disruptions.” – Lukas Gläsel, IT Business Manager, E.ON Drive Infrastructure

Swisscharge: 20,000 charge points migrated, 12 use cases, one night

Swisscharge migration to AMPECO

When you’re Switzerland’s largest charging network operator, serving 200,000 registered drivers with access to hundreds of thousands of charging points across Europe, a platform migration isn’t just a technical project — it’s a strategic inflection point. Swisscharge‘s complex, multi-operator business model — acting simultaneously as a CPO, multi-brand eMSP, and platform reseller to partners — demanded a platform capable of supporting 12 diverse use cases spanning public charging, fleet management, workplace, and residential charging.

What made the Swisscharge project distinctive wasn’t just the number of charge points. It was the governance model built around it.

Swisscharge brought in The Rechargers, a specialist EV charging consultancy, to serve as the central orchestrator across all parties, managing stakeholders and workflows between Swisscharge, AMPECO, and third parties. Their functional analysts handled data cleanup and business process mapping, restructuring over a decade of accumulated legacy data to ensure a clean go-live. Swisscharge itself served as the communication bridge between all operators, internal support teams, and its EV driver base. Regular steering committees kept executive decision-making moving at the pace the project required, approving process optimizations and data transformations without bottlenecks. Early driver awareness campaigns set clear expectations for the transition and communicated the benefits to B2B and B2C customers before the cutover happened.

AMPECO’s dedicated migration team brought methodologies refined through transitioning 120,000 charge points across dozens of global markets. Applied to Swisscharge’s unique business structure, that experience translated into precise mapping onto AMPECO’s data model, clear definition of business-process translations, and careful technical cutover planning. Dedicated specialists worked directly with operational teams on hardware, payment processors, and roaming, resolving blockers before they became problems.

Multiple dry runs and iterative test imports brought the joint team to consistent data mapping between the legacy and new systems. On the night of September 30th, 2025, approximately 20,000 charge points switched to AMPECO’s OCPP proxy within a few hours. Driver accounts, balances, and RFID tags all transferred. Swisscharge reported no drop in operational metrics. Sessions and active drivers grew 20% year-over-year through 2025, with that trajectory continuing uninterrupted through the cutover.

“AMPECO’s commitment to stick to timelines was crucial. Working with an account manager who closely manages the project on AMPECO’s side made all the difference,” said Jeroen Gernay, Founder of The Rechargers. “AMPECO’s strong data model covers the full spectrum of EV charging use cases. We could map every scenario Swisscharge needed, and their proxy solution allowed us to execute the cutover seamlessly.”

The migration also became an opportunity. Over 10 years of operation, Swisscharge had accumulated legacy use cases and exceptions that complicated day-to-day work. The project gave the team space to clean those up, streamlining business processes and improving operational efficiency alongside the platform transition itself.

Wattif: Consolidating seven acquisitions into one platform

Wattif migration to AMPECO

Growth through acquisition presents unique migration challenges—multiple legacy systems, diverse hardware portfolios, and the pressure to integrate quickly without disrupting operations. Wattif faced exactly this scenario, and AMPECO became their migration partner of choice.

Internally, AMPECO has proven to be the preferred partner for Wattif. We evaluated eight different CPMS platforms, and AMPECO is the one we chose to consolidate on.” – Andreas Strand, CEO, Wattif

Through our partnership, Wattif successfully migrated portfolios from seven separate acquisitions, bringing its total network to over 45,000 managed charge points across six European markets. The EFUEL migration demonstrated our ability to move fast: 4,600 users and 200 chargers transitioned in just a few weeks. But the real test came with the Charge365 consolidation — over 30,000 charge points plus two additional portfolios migrated in just three months.

Our integration teams validated hardware compatibility across 30+ AC and DC charger types — including advanced features like Dynamic Load Management — so Wattif could deliver consistent, grid-aware charging across its entire network from day one. This rigorous testing and customization streamlined deployment, reduced operational risk, and enabled Wattif to deliver consistent, grid-friendly charging experiences across its entire network.

Eldrive: Migrating 2,500+ charge points across three CEE markets

Behind 120,000+ Charge Points Migrations: Real Stories from E.ON Drive, Swisscharge, Wattif, and Eldrive - Migrating a charging network to a new software platform is one of the highest-stakes decisions a CPO can make.

Eldrive is a leading EV charging infrastructure operator in Eastern Europe, managing a rapidly growing network across Bulgaria, Romania, and Lithuania. Backed by significant institutional financing from the European Investment Bank and EBRD, Eldrive had ambitious plans to scale to 8,400+ charging stations—but their previous provider had stopped developing the platform, and Eldrive was hitting scaling limits they couldn’t work around.

Operating across three countries introduced layers of complexity: varying currencies and payment requirements, over 500 B2B partner relationships requiring revenue sharing and reporting, and the need to migrate years of accumulated data, user accounts, and operational configurations without disrupting service.

AMPECO migrated over 2,500 charge points across Eldrive’s three markets, deploying a multi-tenant architecture with seamless payment routing, a comprehensive partner portal that eliminated manual administrative work for 500+ B2B partners, and full API access for advanced business intelligence.

The communication with your competitors was difficult and slow. We saw too many limitations. AMPECO had a very well-structured process, conversations were quick and efficient, you were the only one to cover entirely all our requirements in terms of features.” — Stefan Spassov, CEO, Eldrive

AMPECO’s migration team replicated seven years of operational configurations, partnerships, and data within the new system.

We were impressed with the number of teams and people AMPECO involved in making the migration happen. It was clear to us that none of the other companies we talked to would ever engage so deeply in the process and allocate such resources and care.” — Dimo Kolchev, Head of Business Development, Eldrive

With AMPECO’s scalable platform, Eldrive is now positioned to execute on its growth plans while leveraging enhanced data capabilities, automated operations, and dramatically improved partner management across all three markets.
