We are happy to announce that AMPECO has partnered with Plugsurfing to bring managed roaming to AMPECO’s eMSP platform. Through a single Roam OCPI integration, eMSP customers gain access to more than 1 million charge points across 28 European countries, operated by 800+ CPOs and covering over 83% of European public charging infrastructure.
The partnership adds a third roaming path to the AMPECO platform, alongside self-managed OCPI and hybrid configurations that were already available. Together, these three approaches give eMSPs a genuine choice in how they build their roaming strategy — rather than adapting to what their platform supports.
What the Plugsurfing partnership provides
Plugsurfing is one of Europe’s leading EV charging platforms for businesses, currently serving more than 40 eMSPs and connecting over 2 million EV drivers to its network. The integration brings that scale directly into AMPECO’s eMSP platform through the Roam OCPI protocol.
Pan-European coverage from day one
The Plugsurfing network covers 28 European countries with 78%+ overall roaming coverage and 93%+ coverage for DC and high-power charging. Infrastructure providers in the network include IONITY, Tesla Supercharger, Fastned, and Allego, alongside hundreds of regional CPOs. In Germany, France, and the Netherlands alone, the network spans more than half a million charge points.
For eMSPs choosing the managed model, that coverage is available immediately — without negotiating 800+ individual CPO relationships to build it.
Consolidated roaming operations
Managing roaming relationships at scale carries real operational overhead: CDR reconciliation, per-CPO invoicing, and keeping tariff data current across hundreds of operators. The Plugsurfing integration handles this layer. Monthly invoicing is consolidated across all connected CPOs, CDR validation is automated, and tariff data is normalized and refreshed as frequently as every minute.
“The partnership with AMPECO enables eMSPs to offer broad, reliable charging access across Europe without the operational overhead of managing roaming themselves. Together, we handle the network relationships and day-to-day operations so they can focus on growing their business,” said Tom Rowlands, Managing Director, Global EV Solutions at Corpay.
Choosing a roaming approach
The Plugsurfing partnership completes AMPECO’s three-model roaming framework. Each approach serves a different operator profile — and none is prescribed as the default.
Managed roaming through Plugsurfing suits eMSPs that want broad European coverage available quickly, with the CPO relationships and day-to-day operations handled by a specialist provider.
Self-managed roaming suits eMSPs that want direct control over bilateral CPO agreements — full visibility into commercial terms and the flexibility to build a network tailored to specific markets or use cases.
Hybrid combines both: eMSPs can use Plugsurfing’s managed network for coverage breadth while maintaining direct connections with specific CPOs where the relationship matters.
Most EV charging platforms offer one of these models — either a single bundled managed provider or self-managed OCPI with no coordination support. AMPECO’s three-model architecture means the roaming strategy decision belongs to the operator.
“As the EV charging market in Europe matures, we’re seeing growing demand from our customers for more direct control over key aspects of their business, including their eMSP roaming strategy. At AMPECO, we’re committed to delivering the right fit for each customer, and integrating one of the strongest managed roaming providers on the market gives many of our customers a seamless path to scale,” said Stefan Ivanov, CRO at AMPECO.
