Sooner or later, every EV charging operator wants their platform to do more than it does out of the box. Sometimes it’s about growing what they offer drivers: smarter routing, better map visibility, and notifications that keep drivers coming back. Other times it’s about tightening internal operations: automations that remove manual work, two-factor authentication, and deeper data analytics. Either way, they hit the same wall. At that point, operators are usually forced to choose between waiting for their vendor’s roadmap or building the integration themselves, whether that means diverting in-house engineers or paying for outside development.
The AMPECO Marketplace offers a third path. It gives operators access to ready-to-use integrations, add-on capabilities, and purpose-built tools that make it easier to extend the platform without requiring a new development project. Instead of waiting or building from scratch, operators can add the functionality their business needs and put it to work faster.
What is the AMPECO Marketplace?
The AMPECO Marketplace is where you can find apps that extend your platform, organized around the parts of the business operators most often want to develop.
Some apps help you expand what you offer drivers: push notifications and messaging, station visibility on maps and route planners, roaming across major hubs, and driver support. Others help you sharpen how you run the network: tools that reduce downtime and predict faults, billing and tax compliance across jurisdictions, national reporting requirements, and revenue analytics and pricing. A further set covers energy, from load optimization and dynamic power management to participation in flexibility markets.
Each listing explains what the app does, who provides it, what it requires, and how it fits into your setup. Without the marketplace, knowing a given integration or capability was even possible often meant digging through technical documentation or raising it in a conversation with AMPECO. The marketplace makes those options visible and easy to evaluate as your business evolves.
Why a marketplace, and not just an API
AMPECO has always made its data and functionality accessible through a comprehensive API. Operators can use it to build their own tools, workflows, and integrations around the platform, and for teams creating something entirely their own, our Developer Hub remains the right starting point.
But an API provides the building blocks, not the finished capability. Every direct integration still needs to be scoped, developed, tested, and maintained as the systems on either side change. For common needs such as connecting to a popular CRM, syncing data with a mapping service, or introducing a specialized billing workflow, operators often end up investing time and resources in solving problems that have already been solved elsewhere. And the work does not stop at launch: every integration has to be kept current as APIs evolve, features change, and business requirements shift, creating an ongoing burden that is easy to underestimate.
The marketplace removes that repetition. Instead of building an integration yourself, you can activate an existing one. The work of scoping, building, and keeping it current has already been done, so you get the capability without taking on the development project or the ongoing maintenance that comes with it.
Three ways to extend your platform
The AMPECO Marketplace brings together three kinds of apps, each designed to extend the platform differently.
Out-of-the-box integrations connect AMPECO to third-party systems and services your business already uses or wants to use, from payment providers and tax engines to energy markets, roaming hubs, CRMs, ERPs, and mapping and visibility platforms such as Eco-Movement and Uberall. Where these connections once required a custom development project and an ongoing maintenance commitment, many can now be added through an existing app.
Add-on capabilities extend the platform itself rather than connecting it to an external system. They introduce specific capabilities for specific use cases: new billing models, monetization opportunities, and operational workflows, giving you more ways to adapt the platform to how your business works without building the functionality from scratch.
Custom apps are built around your specific requirements. When no existing app covers a need, a tailored app can be developed and integrated with the AMPECO platform and, depending on the app, deployed and hosted by AMPECO under the same service commitments. You retain ownership of the intellectual property behind what makes your business distinctive while relying on AMPECO to provide the underlying platform. It is the clearest illustration of what a platform approach is for: not a single fixed answer handed to everyone, but the flexibility to build what your business uniquely needs.
How the AMPECO Marketplace works in practice
The marketplace has two sides. The public marketplace on the AMPECO website is open for anyone to browse, explore available apps, and understand what each one does. In the AMPECO backend, operators can see the apps available for their business, add them to their environment, and manage the apps already installed in one place.
Depending on the app, an admin can install and configure it directly via a guided setup or request that AMPECO handle the setup. Paid apps can also be billed through the platform, removing the need to set up a separate commercial relationship for every new capability.
Whether an app is an integration, an add-on feature, or something built for a specific operator, it is presented and managed in the same way. That consistency is deliberate: extending the platform should feel like adding a capability, not starting a new software project.
Your data, brand, and customers stay yours
Extending the platform does not mean handing over the parts of your business that matter. Your data, your brand, and your relationship with your customers remain yours. Apps can connect you to new services and capabilities without putting another provider at the center of your business or changing who owns the relationship with your customers.
This is the same principle on which the whole platform is built. AMPECO gives operators the tools to run a charging business without inserting a middleman, and the marketplace follows that logic rather than working against it. It gives you more ways to extend what you can do without taking control away from you.
Why this matters as your business grows
What you need from your platform changes as your business grows. Early on, the priority may be getting to market quickly with a focused set of capabilities. Later, the same business needs depth: more integrations, more specialized workflows, or occasionally something built just for it. A platform that served only one of those stages would eventually force a migration to reach the other.
The marketplace lets AMPECO serve both from the same foundation. You start with what you need and add to it as the business gets more complex, without replacing the foundation. The platform grows with you instead of being outgrown, which is the whole reason to choose a platform in the first place.
Where is the AMPECO Marketplace heading?
What is in the catalog today is a curated selection, chosen and maintained by AMPECO, with some of it built in partnership with others. That is the starting point, not the finished picture. The direction is to broaden what the marketplace can hold: more custom apps built for individual operators, and, over time, the ability for approved third-party developers to publish their own apps for AMPECO customers to install and use.
The further that vision develops, the more the marketplace becomes what a platform is meant to be: an ecosystem where the range of what you can do with AMPECO is not limited to what any single company can build on its own. As that ecosystem grows, so does the range of capabilities operators can build on.
