NTEP/CTEP-compliant hardware-agnostic CPMS for your EV charging business in the U.S. - In the realm of EV charging, adhering to rules and standards is non-negotiable. The U.S. National Type Evaluation Program (NTEP) is the cornerstone of this commitment, granting certifications to companies responsible for manufacturing and operating EV chargers. This certification process, overseen by NTEP, meticulously checks whether these chargers align with the mandates set forth in the NIST Handbook 44 (HB 44) which sets rules for how fuel pumps and electric vehicle chargers must work, ensuring fairness and transparency in EV charging transactions. While some states have already embraced these rules, others are gearing up to implement them by January 1, 2025. The validation process is typically conducted by specialized NTEP-approved labs; California has its own independent program for this, the California Type Evaluation Program (CTEP).

The US has officially joined the race: a new EV Charging Action Plan - On December 14th, the Biden administration unveiled a new EV Charging Action Plan. As part of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law it will boost America’s efforts in deploying charging stations across the country and speed up the adoption of EVs - both crucial to tackling greenhouse emissions and reducing America’s carbon footprint. President Biden is banking on greater accessibility, as well as the proposed tax credit of up to $12,500 per EV in his Build Back Better proposal, to convert ICE drivers. This will surely bring even more wind in the sails of EV charging businesses throughout 2022.
